About us

Affordable Heating and Air is a veteran-owned heating and cooling company working out of Decatur, covering Adams, Allen, Wells, Huntington, Jay and Blackford counties in Indiana and Mercer County in Ohio.

How we work

Most of what we do is repair. Somebody has no heat in January or no cooling in July, and they need an honest diagnosis rather than a sales pitch. We take readings, we tell you what is wrong, and we give you a price before any work starts.

When a system genuinely is at the end of its life, we will show you the arithmetic — the cost of this repair, the likely cost of the next one, and what a replacement would run — instead of simply quoting a new unit. Sometimes the right answer is that the old furnace will get you through another season, and we will say so.

Qualifications

The technical side is not delegated to a call centre. Between us we hold:

• College degrees in HVAC
• ICC National Standard Master Mechanical certification
• Prometric Limited Air Conditioning licence
• Federal EPA Section 608 — Types I, II and III
• Federal EPA Section 609
• HVAC Excellence awards in Gas Heat, Air Conditioning and Electrical

We are bonded, insured, and registered to work in both Indiana and Ohio.

The equipment we fit

New systems are RunTru by Trane — built by Trane, on the current R-454B refrigerant. The furnaces carry a 20-year heat exchanger warranty and 10 years on parts, provided the unit is registered within 60 days of installation. We file that registration for you on the day we finish, because missing the window cuts the parts cover in half.

We service and repair every other make and model, whatever happens to be in your house.
