What we do

Everything that heats or cools a house here

Repair and replacement, every make and model — not only the ones we sell.

Furnace opened up for diagnosis in a Decatur basement

Furnace repair

No heat, short cycling, a cracked heat exchanger, an ignitor that will not light. Diagnosed and quoted before any work starts.

Furnace replacement

Sized to the house rather than to whatever is on the van, with the permit pulled and the old unit hauled away.

Refrigerant readings taken on a service call

Air conditioning repair

Warm air, iced lines, a compressor that will not start, low refrigerant. We find the leak instead of just topping it up.

Air conditioning replacement

Straight replacement or a full system with the furnace, quoted as one written number.

Heat pumps

Install and service, including cold-climate units that still work through a Northeast Indiana January.

Boilers

Repair and replacement for hot-water and steam systems, including the older boilers common in Decatur and Berne.

Ductless mini-split fitted in a garage workshop

Ductless mini-splits

Additions, garages, sunrooms and older houses with no ductwork to work with.

Ductwork

Repair, sealing and replacement. Most rooms that never get warm are a duct problem, not a furnace problem.

Maintenance

A proper seasonal service on the furnace or the cooling system, with the readings written down so you can compare next year.

Communication with this company was phenomenal. Quick response with time accuracy right on. Tyler was very professional and informative about what the problem was. Will definitely use this company for future needs.

My A/C stopped working last night. I called the morning of Labor Day and a technician was prompt to call me and set up an appointment. Right on time, and he explained everything he was doing. In about 20 minutes my AC was back up and running.

We had Tyler as our tech, he was awesome. Our air is 22 years old and he fixed us right up. Very professional, very well spoken young man. We used someone else for 20 years — this company will be our go-to now.

Tyler has always been great to work with. He replaced the AC and furnace at my old home and did a great job, so he came to check the system at my new house too. Replaced some fittings and we are ready for winter.

Great experience. Quick to respond, very knowledgeable, explained everything well and got us back up and running quickly.

Very helpful and professional. He went above the call to make sure the AC was back up and running, and came back later to check the parts were installed and working.

How a call goes

No surprises, start to finish

  1. You call and describe the fault. If it is something you can check yourself in two minutes, we will tell you that on the phone rather than booking a visit.
  2. We diagnose it on site. Readings taken and written down, not a guess based on the noise it makes.
  3. You get a price before any work starts. One number, parts and labour together. No trip charge bolted on afterwards.
  4. We repair it, or we tell you it is not worth repairing. On an older system we show you the arithmetic instead of just quoting a replacement.

The equipment we install

RunTru by Trane

RunTru by Trane Our furnace, air conditioning and heat pump line
  • 20-year heat exchanger warranty
  • 10 years on parts, registered by us
  • Current R-454B refrigerant
  • Built by Trane, same production lines

RunTru is built by Trane, on the same production lines, and runs the current R-454B refrigerant rather than the phased-out R-410A. It gives you Trane engineering at a price that makes sense for a straight replacement.

The parts cover only holds if the unit is registered within 60 days of installation, and it drops to five years if that window is missed. We file the registration for you on the day we finish, so it never gets forgotten.

We repair and service every make and model, whatever is currently in your house. RunTru by Trane is simply what we fit when it is time for a new one.

Questions we get asked

Do you charge a call-out or diagnostic fee?

We tell you the diagnostic fee on the phone before we book anything, and it is credited against the repair if you go ahead. What we do not do is add a trip charge or a disposal fee on to the invoice afterwards.

How quickly can you get out?

Same day is normal for a no-heat or no-cooling call inside Adams, Wells and Allen counties. Further out we schedule in blocks so the drive does not end up on your bill. If it is an emergency, say so when you ring.

Do you work on all makes and models?

Yes. We repair and service everything, whatever is currently installed. RunTru by Trane is what we fit when a system is genuinely past saving, but that has no bearing on what we will work on.

Should I repair my furnace or replace it?

It depends on the age, the part that failed and what else is close to failing. We will show you the numbers — this repair, the likely next one, and what a replacement costs — and if the honest answer is that a repair will get you through another season, we will say so.

What warranty comes with a new system?

RunTru furnaces carry a 20-year heat exchanger warranty and 10 years on parts. The parts cover only holds if the unit is registered within 60 days of installation and halves to five years if that window is missed, so we file the registration for you on the day we finish.

Is financing available?

Yes, through Wisetack, subject to approval. It takes a couple of minutes and does not affect your credit score to check what you qualify for.

Which areas do you cover?

Adams, Allen, Wells, Huntington, Jay and Blackford counties in Indiana, and Mercer County in Ohio. That means Decatur, Fort Wayne, Bluffton, Berne, Geneva, Ossian, Huntington, Portland, Hartford City, Celina and Coldwater.
